Deism

Lord Herbert of Cherbury first opposed the beliefe of deism. Deism is the belief that a supreme God lives, untouchable. Deists believe that there is a god of nature, who permits the universe to run itself according to natural laws. Some deists believe in Jesus Christ, but some do not. Most deists give regard to the moral teachings of Jesus, but don't think of it as their God. They deny the credibility of any writings from the Apostles or any “Spirit-inspired” writings and reject revelations and visions. Deism has no need for ministers, priests, or rabbis. All a deist requires is his/her own common sense and the ability to contemplate their human condition.
